To protect the integrity of the CGCP certification, all exams are monitored using secure remote proctoring. This ensures a fair, reliable testing process for every candidate. Proctoring may be conducted using AI monitoring, live human proctors, or a combination of both. Candidates are not informed in advance which method will be used.

The Body of Knowledge (BoK) is the foundation of every certification offered by the Federal Management Institute (FMI). Each BoK is a comprehensive reference that defines the knowledge, skills, and professional practices required to succeed in federal contracting roles.
What a Body of Knowledge Is
A BoK is not just an exam study guide — it’s a professional reference you can use throughout your career.
It outlines the domains of knowledge (major subject areas) and breaks them into subtopics with detailed guidance, definitions, and key concepts.
Every BoK is structured to be practical, exam-ready, and career-relevant.
How to Use the BoK
As Exam Prep: Each BoK is the official study material for its certification exam. Reviewing all domains and subtopics ensures you understand the full scope of tested knowledge.
As a Professional Reference: Even after earning your credential, the BoK serves as a go-to manual for handling challenges, refreshing on processes, or coaching others.
For Career Development: The BoK highlights areas where you may want to grow. Use it to build personal learning goals or prepare for more advanced certifications.
How the BoK Is Organized
Domain Overview: Each domain begins with a short explanation of why the topic matters.
Narrative Summaries: Subtopics are covered in clear, detailed language that explains not just what to know, but how it applies in practice.
Key Concepts: Each section closes with bulleted points that define the terms and principles you should be able to recall and apply.
Applying the Knowledge
On the Job: The BoK connects theory to real-world federal contracting practices.
With Teams: Managers can use BoKs to coach staff and align expectations.
For Growth: Professionals can map their strengths and weaknesses against BoK domains to guide development.
Continuous Relevance
Federal contracting evolves, and so do FMI’s Bodies of Knowledge. Each BoK is reviewed and updated with input from industry practitioners, federal stakeholders, and corporate leaders to ensure it reflects current standards, policies, and best practices.
